OK…even though there’s little more that can be said, I’m going to say it anyway. Here’s the part that leaped out at me:

“We can see in the above excerpt that those who were advocating greater education in order to raise the acceptance of climate change are all too willing to abandon education once it is perceived that numeracy was having the “wrong” impact.”
This really rang true, for as most of you know, many years ago I was a college professor. Perhaps “professor” is too glorious a title, for in the modern American academy, tenure is all but a thing of the past unless one is willing to compliantly ape the memes of academia. Most universities now rely on adjuncts, vastly underpaid instructors, while senior faculty and administrators rake it in. I was, save for a brief period, one of those adjuncts.
Anyway, to make a long story short, part of my teaching duties included the instruction of a cross-disciplinary seminar, which was team taught, and in my case, I had the very good fortune of team-teaching with a biologist from the University of Tulsa, Dr. Peggy Hill, well-known in her field. We were handed, one year, a “workbook” of papers on environmental issues, global warming, and so on, a workbook prepared by the administration, and, go figure, heavily slanted to favor the whole global warming hypothesis, with hints and suggestions of the whole globalist agenda as “the only possible solution.”
Well, neither Dr. Hill nor I – nor our students for that matter – thought much of the “objectivity” of the workbook and a mere modicum of research on the part of the students presenting papers and oral presentations quickly exposed the problems with it. A few years later of course and we were all treated to the stories of cooked numbers and data by the lamestream media, not to mention the fact that most of the solar system’s planets are “heating up” for some reason, so clearly at least part of this phenomenon cannot be blamed on mankind, carbon emissions, or the other favorite explanations of the globalist elites.
The meme is revealed for what it was all along: another scam for the elites to make money for themselves at everyone else’s expense.
But there’s a problem, and the problem is, that in spite of their best efforts to create a truly colossal educational failure, and to control perceptions and information thereby, people just aren’t buying the product any more. Our kids go to classrooms where the edubabble is so boring that they spend their time texting, emailing….and, occasionally, reading about things on their own on the internet. And there’s the rub: humans invariably find a way around all attempts to control the flow of information and its interpretation, whether it’s families in Europe during World War Two, huddled around radio sets and listening to the forbidden BBC, or authors in the Soviet Union circulating manuscripts copied laboriously on typewriters, or now…the internet. People will find a way, and thus, I have to wholeheartedly agree with The Daily Bell: “Whether it is global warming, the war on terror or even central banking, the memes simply are not so effective in the 21st century as they were in the 20th. Conclusion: Education or the lack of it will not change this reality.”
Indeed, the formal education systems of the West are themselves increasingly under fire, fore poor academic standards, for their intolerance of points of view other than “sanctioned” ones, and, at least in America, for their plain goofiness. Even if the elites are 100% successful in controlling the internet (and of course, they will not be), people will find other sources of information, other data, and form their own interpretations and conclusions. And “Education or the lack of it will not change this reality.”
